Create Your Poster Frame to Turn a Poster into a Portrait

One of the best ways to create something unique is to make a poster frame on your own. If you love posters, then you have faced this problem at least once – you have gone to the store and then you have bought a nice looking frame, but later you realize that it is not suitable for your poster, so you have actually wasted your money. Building a custom frame poster is easy and requires only a few materials. For those people who have little time or have no idea how to do this, wholesale poster frames can be a better alternative too.

  1. Pick a wood that will complement the poster and make it look even better. The easiest way to do this is to match the color with the overall color of the poster – so basically darker woods will go with white and black posters, while the lighter woods are more suitable for colored posters.

  2. Measure the dimensions of the poster with the help of a ruler and then jot down the width and height.

  3. Measure the wood and map out the height and width that you took in the previous step. Then put them along and mark them on the wood with the help of a pencil. If the two lengths are matching, then you have done this step correctly and can proceed to the next one.

  4. When it comes to cutting the angles, the miter saw is the best you can use because you can set it to a 45-degree angle. However, we recommend you to allow a couple extra inches just in case. The width pieces should have one upward and downward sloped angle, while the length – the opposite. After cutting the 4 pieces, they should be matching and make a square.

  5. Now it is time to glue the frame. You can use standard wood glue. After applying it on the wood, the best you can do is to let it dry overnight. Check the durability of the frame on the next day and if it feels strong, proceed with the next step.

  6. Use a piece of cardboard for background. The piece should have dimensions such as 1/16 of an inch shorter than the inside of the frame. Then place the poster on the piece and slide it into the frame. Right after this operation, connect the fourth pieces and glue them.

  7. The final step is to sand the frame. You can use sandpaper or sanding belt- just run it on the surface and edges of the frame. Keep up with the process until you feel that the wood is smooth. Different finishes have different textures or colors, so let your imagination and create one that will suit your personality.

So if you have creative mind then you can do it easily to convert your poster into an attractive painting indeed. You just have to follow the above mentioned steps properly to create a poster frame yourself.
